Rebranding to Veterans to Naval Careers
We’re excited to announce that Veterans to Energy Careers (VTEC) has rebranded to Veterans to Naval Careers (VNC). This change reflects our evolving focus and expanding mission. With this new grant from the Office of Naval Research (ONR), California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) has received the second largest federal grant in the history of CSUSM. This support from ONR allows VNC and CSUSM to continue empowering and supporting veterans nation-wide.
A life-changing path: how this veteran found success beyond service
MONTEREY, CA - Veterans to Naval Careers (VNC) alumnus Forest Shaner highlighted the critical value of internship experience for transitioning veterans during an interview at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in November 2024. Reflecting on his time with VNC, Shaner shared, “The application of engineering and the theory of engineering can be very different… so I learned a lot more practical skills.” Through its partnership with academic institutions like NPS, VNC connects veterans pursuing STEM degrees with internships that provide hands-on, industry-relevant experience. These opportunities equip veterans with practical skills and open pathways to sustainable, impactful careers.
Approaching Transition Differently
At Veterans to Naval Careers, we've found that competitively paid internships coupled with one-on-one mentorship and professional development is the key to guiding veterans to sustainable careers.
